Chema's Tacos
About This Spot
Nestled amid the bustling rhythm of Whittier’s Whittier Boulevard, Chema’s Tacos offers a humble yet inviting pause from the usual city clamor. The moment you arrive, there’s an unpretentious warmth in the air, a space where locals gather with an easy familiarity and the pace slows just enough to savor the moment. The modest dining area feels like a welcoming embrace—a little refuge where conversations blend with the sizzle of the grill and the aroma of freshly cooked meats.
Inside, the atmosphere is marked by quiet but steady activity, a testament to the steady stream of patrons who come for the food as much as the feeling of belonging. Conversations ebb and flow around small tables, sharing stories and laughter as families, friends, and solo visitors alike enjoy the straightforward comfort of authentic street tacos. It’s a place where the hum of daily life slows to something more intimate and grounded.
At Chema’s, the menu is a thoughtful reflection of traditional Mexican taco craftsmanship—each taco a small, satisfying burst of flavor that invites you to explore the nuances of well-prepared meats like carne asada, al pastor, and chorizo. The meats are lean and cooked with care, offering a balance of boldness without heaviness. Accompanying sides like fresh cebollitas and the restaurant’s signature salsa roja add layers to each bite, making every taco feel like a personal discovery rather than a hurried meal.
Beyond the food, there’s a sense of community that permeates Chema’s. The staff moves with genuine attentiveness, adding to an honest and straightforward dining experience free from pretense. Despite the spot’s unassuming appearance, there’s a shared understanding among those who come here: this is a place where quality, affordability, and tradition quietly meet.
Those who seek out Chema’s often find more than just a meal—they find a small gem where the everyday joy of eating well combines with the subtle hum of a neighborhood taco joint cherished by its patrons. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the simplest places make the most memorable experiences.

Skip the taco trucks! Chema’s tacos are the best. If you are seeking tacos that are excellent in flavor, sold at a very reasonable price, and high quality food, then look no further. This is a must try restaurant. You can get 4 tacos and a drink for under $10. That’s rare these days.

Quick and great customer service! You can order to pick up or dine in. There's about 8 tables that sit anywhere from 2 to 4 people and parking is scarce but there's street parking. The meat is not greasy and lean, no fat to worry about. The tacos are small but they're amazing and full of meat! They range from $1.40 to $1.60 including taxes. Highly recommend coming here!

The tacos were good and I did enjoy them while I was eating them at the establishment, it might need a pinch of more flavor but overall it was good. Will bring my family next time so that they can try them and give their input on the tacos, until next time!

Taco joint in Whittier that serves up great street tacos at unbeatable prices. Stopped in to sample these since stayed last time up the street from this place and could smell the aromas so had to tryAll tacos are 2 dollars (tax included) ordered 2 carne asada and 2 al pastor with everything on it. Didnt dissapoint at all, legit LA Tacos. Should have ordered 4 more to go but started to get a line so i passed. Would recommend, 5 stars

I was told about this place from an out of town coworker that has relatives near by. The owner/cook was very hospitable and everything was surprisingly low priced. Tacos were very tasty and well balanced. I would go back definitely. The only thing I didn’t really like was the parking lot cause its entrance is very close to a busy blvd with fast traffic. You have to exit very carefully. I recommend either parking in the back, side street or back in.

First time here! Highly recommend!! A hole in the wall taco shop, which are always the best… Great spot to grab a quick bite to eat! Tocos are super delicious ! They have a different flavor to them than other taco shops around! Small tacos though. I ordered 4, but could have easily ate 12 tocos. Price is right! The salsa is homemade and goes great with the tocos! The salsa makes it taste delicious! I will definitely be back for lunch! The service was excellent, and friendly! They know what customer service means!! Thank you and see you soon!

Was told from coworker that Chemas was good food. Tried it and YES . Really good tacos. My go to are Al pastor and chicken. The way the sauce mixes with the flavors of the meat . Cash only. Definitely recommend!!!!

Amazing tacos, best cabeza and tripas tacos. The salsa is always so good, not too spicy. Friendly service, quick service. I wish they would put some tables outside to enjoy the sun.
